The low down...

Cody Remaklus has been performing professionally for 18 years primarily as a percussionist/hybrid drum set player, he has also studied and performed different forms of drumming and dance from Cuba, Africa, Brazil, India and more. He has toured with several musical groups in the United States, Latin America and Europe. Cody holds a BA from UNR in Spanish and an MFA in World Music Performance from the California Institute of the Arts.

 

Cody has performed in the Los Angeles based group Zadonu, a professional dance and drum ensemble created by Kobla Ladzekpo and dedicated to celebrating the traditional music of the Ewe people of Ghana. Cody has traveled to Cuba several times to study Afro-Cuban folkloric music as well as to Brazil where he studied with prominent musical innovators. He continues to immerse himself in world music and culture, be it through travel, learning new languages or exploring new artists and teachers.

 

Today you can find Cody, teaching applied lessons in World Percussion and directing the World Percussion Ensemble at the University of Nevada Reno.  He also offers private or group lessons, where he devotes his attention to aspiring, intermediate and professional musicians. Cody continues to perform with various groups and independently for yoga and dance classes, school performances and more. Check out his Events page for a list of his upcoming performances. Cody is also currently working on his practitioner's certification in The Feldenkrais Method and will be offering formal, Awareness Through Movement classes (ATM’s) starting the spring semester of 2015 at UNR. 

 

Stay tuned for Cody’s " Jank Love ", musical instrument line, which is currently being perfected and is expected to be launched in the spring of 2016. This will be a consumer based portal where Cody will release modified  and original percussion instruments to the public for purchase!
